Federal Cost Share Programs: The USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service has several federally funded cost-share programs for producers.

Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) allows landowners to enroll eligible acres into a 10-15 year program to help address water quality concerns.  The incentives for this program include:  annual rental payments, bonuses, maintenance fees and cost-share for conservation practices.  You can apply for this program anytime during the year.

Wildlife Habitat Incentive Program (WHIP) is a voluntary program for people who want to develop and improve wildlife habitat primarily on private land.  Through WHIP, the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service provides both technical assistance and up to 75% cost-share assistance to establish and improve fish and wildlife habitat.  WHIP agreements between USDA-NRCS and the participant generally last from 5-10 years from the date the agreement is signed.  You can apply for this program anytime during the year but January 31st is the deadline for ranking.

Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) provides a voluntary conservation program for farmers and ranchers that promotes agricultural production and environmental quality as compatible national goals.  EQIP offers financial and technical help to assist eligible participants install or implement structural and management practices on eligible agricultural land.  You can apply for this program anytime during the year but October 31st is the deadline for ranking.
